Peptide FDA Reclassification News 2026
The February 27, 2026 HHS Secretary announcement changed the legal landscape for compounded peptides in the United States. Track which peptides are returning to Category 1, which the FDA Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee recommended on July 23–24, and what patients and 503A pharmacies should know.
The 2026 Reclassification Timeline
HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr announces on Joe Rogan Experience #2461 that approximately 14 peptides will move from Category 2 back to Category 1 status.
Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee reviews seven peptides. Six recommended for the 503A Bulks List. Committee recommendations are advisory, not binding.
As of August 2026, the FDA has not published the final formal reclassification. Compounding legality for the RFK-14 list becomes formally restored once the FDA publishes the update.
Peptides on the RFK-14 Reclassification List
These peptides are expected to return to Category 1 (legal for 503A compounding) under the February 2026 HHS announcement. Formal FDA publication pending.
