Pharmacy Verification

Every pharmacy on Script Unlock is manually verified by our team before they can bid on your prescription. We do this work by hand because trust is worth the time.

    Our verification process

When a pharmacy applies to join Script Unlock, our team manually verifies their credentials before granting access. We do not use automated bulk verification — every pharmacy is checked individually by a person on our team.

    What we check (by hand)

    1. NPI lookup — We confirm the pharmacy's National Provider Identifier through the publicly available NPPES (National Plan and Provider Enumeration System) registry.
    2. State pharmacy license — We look up the pharmacy's active license with the relevant state board of pharmacy.
    3. DEA registration — For pharmacies that intend to dispense controlled substances, we confirm their DEA registration is current and in good standing.
    4. Pharmacist-in-charge — We confirm a licensed pharmacist of record is associated with the pharmacy at the state-board level.
    5. OIG exclusion check — We check the federal Office of Inspector General's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities to confirm the pharmacy is not excluded from federal health programs.

What our verification does not promise

We are upfront about what we do and don't check. Verification confirms a pharmacy is legitimately licensed and not under federal sanction. It does NOT mean:

    • Real-time license-status monitoring (we re-check at renewal, not minute-by-minute)
    • A guarantee of quality of service or dispensing accuracy
    • An endorsement of any specific pharmacy or pharmacist
    • That every action a pharmacy takes on the platform is supervised by Script Unlock

We aim to make our verification process more thorough over time, including automated cross-checks. For now, it is a manual check performed at signup.
