AOD-9604 FDA Status 2026: What the RFK Reclassification Means
HGH fragment on the RFK-14 list.
The 2026 Reclassification Timeline
FDA moves 19 peptides — including AOD-9604 — to Category 2, effectively ending legal 503A compounding access. Concerns cited: immunogenicity risk, peptide-related impurities, limited human safety data.
HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr announces on Joe Rogan Experience #2461 that approximately 14 of the 19 restricted peptides will move from Category 2 back to Category 1. AOD-9604 is on this list.
FDA announces the Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC) will convene July 23–24, 2026 to review specific peptides for the 503A Bulks List.
FDA PCAC meets. Six of seven reviewed peptides recommended for inclusion on the 503A Bulks List. Committee recommendations are advisory, not binding.
As of August 2026, the FDA has not published the final formal reclassification. Once formalised, licensed 503A compounding pharmacies will be able to prepare reclassified peptides for patients with valid prescriptions.
What This Means for AOD-9604 Patients
AOD-9604 (a modified HGH fragment 176-191) was placed on Category 2 in 2023. It is on the RFK-14 list for return to Category 1 status. Studied for fat metabolism without the blood-sugar effects of full GH therapy. Once reclassified, licensed 503A compounding pharmacies will resume preparation under physician prescription.
Peptides sold online labeled "for research use only" are not manufactured under pharmaceutical quality standards, are not USP 797 sterile-compounded, and lack physician oversight. The 2026 reclassification is intended to restore access through licensed 503A pharmacies — not to legitimise the gray market.
